Mitzy González

Mitzy González, is an Assistant Director in the Center for Higher Education Innovation and University Innovation Alliance Fellow at the University of Central Florida. She is a passionate advocate for equity and inclusion in higher education with a special focus on the first-generation college-going experience and Latino/a/x students and families. Mitzy earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Florida and her Masters in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to her time at UCF, she served as an Assistant Director in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at UNC Chapel Hill where she was able to inspire and educate students and communities on the college search and application process. In Mitzy’s current role she serves as a reflective change management practitioner and site lead on several university-wide student success initiatives. Mitzy engages in critical work to support UCF in identifying new solutions, scale proven innovations, and communicate and diffuse outcomes with the ultimate goal of helping more students have access to and graduate with a high quality, affordable bachelor’s degree.
