UIA seeks a Director of Alliance Engagement

This position is responsible for the development and oversight of the UIA’s member engagement and support strategy. This individual works with the UIA leadership team to ensure an intentional, collaborative, and high-impact UIA membership experience for each current and future institution. The Director is responsible for overseeing member selection, orientation, and retention; designing and executing virtual and in-person convenings; and managing relationships with key stakeholders and institutional liaisons to the UIA.

Specific duties include:

  • Ensuring a consistent, high quality, high impact member experience for UIA institutions.
  • Preparing for and facilitating monthly meetings of UIA member institutions, annual planning retreats, and biannual campus convenings.
  • Managing orientation of key stakeholders at member institutions. 
  • Supporting the UIA leadership team in preparing for UIA board meetings.
  • Managing strategic and consistent communication with UIA member institutions.
  • Managing key information, priorities, and needs from member institutions.
  • Providing oversight of the UIA Fellows Program.
  • Providing supervisory responsibility for Program Manager, UIA Fellows Program and Program Manager, Alliance Engagement.
  • Overseeing the design and execution of member-serving UIA events.
  • Performing other duties as needed and assigned based on UIA workflow.

Anticipated Salary Range: $85,000 - 95,000

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND eight (8) years of related administrative experience, which includes five (5) years of supervisory experience;
  • OR, Twelve (12) years of related administrative experience, which includes five (5) years of supervisory experience;
  • OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Evidence of a Doctoral degree in higher education or related field.
  • Familiarity with higher education administration and institutional design.
  • Experience developing strategies and workflow for executing complex projects and initiatives; ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously. 
  • Experience fostering and supporting partnerships with a particular emphasis on developing understanding of needs, issues, and problems across organizations and stakeholder groups
  • Experience supervising employees and coaching staff.
  • Experience in planning and facilitating meetings and events.
  • Experience establishing and delivering on organizational priorities. 
  • Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships across a diversified population. 
  • Experience working effectively in an environment subject to changing priorities, sensitive/confidential information and short deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage large amounts of information relevant to the work.
  • Skill in designing training materials and presentations.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and establishing and facilitating work teams.
  • Ability to work independently.
