

Aashir Nasim
Dr. Nasim, a respected scholar and academic administrator, serves as Vice President and Vice Provost for Institutional Equity, Effectiveness and Success (IES) and Director of the Institute for Inclusion, Inquiry & Innovation (iCubed) at Virginia Commonwealth University. As Vice President for IES, Dr. Nasim is leading the implementation of VCU’s Diversity and Inclusion Strategic Action Plan designed to fulfill VCU’s vision of becoming a model university for inclusivity. As iCubed Director, Dr. Nasim works to develop new transdisciplinary academic and research programs that include more than 90 faculty and postdoctoral researchers across the university’s colleges and schools.
Previously, he served as Senior Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs, Vice Provost for Faculty Recruitment and Retention, Special Assistant to the Provost, and Chair of the Department of African American Studies. Dr. Nasim is a National Institute for Minority Health and Health Disparities Scholar, a VCU Massey Cancer Center member, and has been acknowledged for his mentorship of faculty and for his work on institutional capacity-building grants to enhance the pipeline of minorities and women in health sciences and STEM.
