J. Rex Tolliver is a senior level university administrator with over twenty years of experience spanning several functional areas across four universities, LSU, Idaho State, Arizona, and University of Illinois Chicago. Vice Chancellor Tolliver has successfully spearheaded several major construction and renovation projects, including UIC’s first public-private partnership. He has created a Faculty Research Fellows program that awards grants to faculty to research study barriers to student engagement and success. He’s also launched a student internship program that provides grants to students that wish to take advantage of unpaid internships.
Rex currently services as the vice chancellor for student affairs at the University of Illinois Chicago. As the Chief Student Advocate for over 34,000 students, Rex provides leadership to over forty departments, twelve hundred team members and a budget of near $175 million as they reimagine the student experience at UIC.
Rex earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Master of Public Administration from the E. J. Ourso College of Business at LSU and a Juris Doctor from Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
