Mitzy González is a University Innovation Alliance at the University of Central Florida, where she serves as an Assistant Director in the Center for Higher Education Innovation. In this role, she is involved with helping UCF improve higher education access, success, and completion for all students. Mitzy is a first-generation college student, with a B.A. in International Relations from the University of South Florida and a Masters in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While completing her social work program at UNC, Mitzy served as a clinical social worker at Duke Children’s Primary Care, a pediatric clinic which serves a diverse high-need population. Through this experience, she realized her passion for advocacy work, coordinated care, and connecting young adults and their support systems with resources and opportunities to live healthy and dynamic lives.

Most recently Mitzy served as an Assistant Director in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she connected with and informed first-time in college students, transfer students and their support systems on the college admissions process. Throughout her time in admissions she supported university-wide diversity and inclusion initiatives including launching UNC’s first Spanish-language admissions information session and campus tour. Mitzy identifies as a reflective practitioner and is committed to partnering with students and leaders across the campus to improve student success outcomes and completion rates.
