We are a testament to the power of collaboration and are dedicated to giving back to the sector by creating purposeful spaces that make it easier to find like-minded allies, unite around shared urgency, and take collective action to help more students. As we navigate the complexities and challenges of this moment and anticipate what lies ahead in the coming year, we recognize the critical need for our sector to come together meaningfully, strategize, and fortify ourselves with the resilience necessary to stay focused and continue making progress, regardless of the circumstances this fall or election cycle.
The future economic competitiveness of the United States hinges on whether higher education will transcend our competitive culture and fragmented structure to become the catalyst for activating talent and fostering social mobility that our students and our future urgently requires. Going it alone in this competitive landscape often leads to redundant efforts, wasted time, energy, and resources—luxuries our students cannot afford. It also contributes to the frustratingly slow pace of change and improvement in key student outcomes nationally.
We also recognize that the road ahead will demand resilience and the ability to navigate complexity, which is significantly easier with partners and peers to forge ahead together.
From the White House Opportunity Summit, where we first unveiled our public goals, to our inaugural national summit and the last decade of impactful internal convenings, we have consistently demonstrated the power of meticulously designed experiences. Our objectives are clear: firstly, to ignite inspiration, strategic thinking, and resilience within you and your campus community, driving tangible progress; and secondly, to foster enhanced collaboration and transformative partnerships. We will do this by attracting proactive, student-centered leaders from all levels of academia, eager to effect meaningful change in students' lives. The UIA Summit is a platform for campuses, individuals, and networks to cultivate innovative ideas, explore cutting-edge solutions, and equip participants with actionable knowledge and skills. Importantly, we dedicate focused team time for planning and early implementation, ensuring that the momentum generated endures long after the event concludes.
Higher Education needs this boost right now, more than ever. Which is why we're hosting the UIA National Summit this fall, just two weeks before the national election. We will create an unprecedented space that equips our sector with the inspiration, resilience, strategy and community needed to forge ahead regardless of what unfolds in the coming year. Because our students demand it, we must remain committed to our mission—this work is too important. We understand that partnerships, allies, and networks significantly increase the likelihood of advancing systemic change and improvement. We are crafting an experience that will empower your institution with the focus, strategy, and partnerships to sustain you in the next phase of student success innovation and change.
The UIA National Summit is October 23-25 in Tempe, Arizona, and will convene innovative campus leaders, institutions, and systems from across higher education. Bring a team from your campus, set your institution up for success, and immerse yourselves in the inspiration and resilience we all need. It will sell out. We only hold a summit once every five years, so don't miss out. (Don’t just take my word for it, listen to them.)
