Rachel Schurz

Rachel Schurz believes in the transformative power of people and their stories. As the Funding Coordinator for the University Innovation Alliance (UIA), Rachel specializes in crafting compelling grant proposals, refining strategic messaging, and fostering meaningful communication to support UIA’s mission of innovation in higher education.

Rachel brings a diverse background in development and communication, with experience spanning higher education and nonprofit organizations. Her passion for storytelling and collaboration is rooted in her previous career as a television reporter, where she worked for stations such as WSBT in South Bend, Indiana, and WDBJ in Roanoke, Virginia.

Rachel holds a Certificate in Grant Development and Proposal Writing from Arizona State University’s Lodestar Center, a Master of Science in Broadcast Journalism from Boston University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Justice and Sociology from the State University of New York at Oswego.
