Devon Skerritt

Director of Strategic Learning and Impact

Devon Skerritt, Ed.D., oversees the UIA’s learning agenda, diffusion of UIA insights and resources, assessment of UIA initiatives and impact, and promotes a data-driven and collaborative learning culture. He also oversees the University Innovation Lab and supervises the University Innovation Lab team. Devon brings extensive experience in higher education, including innovation and research, working at the intersections of inquiry, engagement, and human-centered design. He thrives on curiosity and is driven by imagining possibilities for greater equity in postsecondary learning. 

Devon has worked for a variety of liberal arts colleges, research universities, and large scale non-profit institutions in strategic innovation and research, program management, and student services. He drove design thinking through facilitation, coaching, and qualitative research across innovation teams at Southern New Hampshire University and organized Design and Innovation programs at Southern Methodist University through academic experiences and corporate partnerships. Devon has served as an adjunct lecturer teaching about Life Design and Liberatory design, and brings deep experience in education administration roles serving students as an advisor and counselor at organizations from K12 to higher education. 

Devon received his Ed.D. in higher education from SMU, where his dissertation was a case study of high impact practices and affective factors in a social innovation program. He also has a master’s degree in higher education management from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education, where was also a 2015 Social Impact Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.A. in history from Colgate University.
