Sebastian Speer

Sebastian Speer is the University Innovation Alliance Fellow for Iowa State University. With 15 years of experience ranging from housing, middle school teaching, advising undergraduates, and supporting graduate students, Sebastian has dedicated his career to supporting students of all levels in many different environments. Most recently, he was the Student Services Specialist in the Graduate College at Iowa State where he worked to improve policy across campus for graduate students and pushed data-driven decisions through data collection and analysis. Sebastian is interested in student mental health and its effect on student success, taking a holistic view of university policy to ensure the needs of all students are met, and using quality research and data to make decisions about programs that support students.

Sebastian is a proud alumnus of Truman State University with a Bachelors of Arts in Music and Florida State University where he earned a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Mathematics Education.
