Jessica Hitzman
Before starting her career in higher education, Jessica Hitzman previously worked for the State of New Mexico Legislative Finance Committee as a program evaluator and fiscal analyst. She contributed her knowledge and expertise in public policy and evaluation to her state through her work developing state agency budgets and evaluating program in areas of broadband, food insecurity, income supports and others. Jessica has presented to several state committees and received a legislative staff certification from the National Conference of State Legislatures. Jessica is passionate about using data-driven evidence and research to address systematic barriers and advance social change.
Jessica is an alumna of the University of New Mexico where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Master of Public Policy degree. In her current work with the university, Jessica’s focus is on student experience and success, supporting innovation and equity and inclusion initiatives at the university.
