Brie Mondragon

UIA Fellow and the Senior Program Coordinator for Student Success Initiatives

Brie Mondragon is the University Innovation Alliance (UIA) Fellow and the Senior Program Coordinator for Student Success Initiatives at the University of Colorado -Denver. She has a strong background in cross-campus collaboration, utilization of institutional data to inform student success initiatives, and a commitment to equitable access to education. She supports the design, implementation, and scaling of equity-focused strategies, including the university's Early Action initiative and the utilization of Milo the Chatbot to increase students' sense of belonging and to proactively remove enrollment barriers. Her work prioritizes strengths and asset-based approaches in conjunction with data-informed programming to close equity gaps, increase retention and persistence, and remove institutional barriers for students. She has also supported initiatives focused on the utilization of predictive analytics to create coaching populations and strategic financial interventions.

She is currently a PhD student in Education and Human Development with a concentration in Family Science. Her research interests focus on how familial funds of knowledge influence first generation children’s decision to pursue a degree in higher education, changes in familial communication patterns after the child goes to college, and the creation of new funds of knowledge through mentorship processes and the college-going experience in higher education settings.
