UIA Fellow and Senior Lecturer, Department of Geography and Environemtnal

Dr. Caitlin Lippitt is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at the University of New Mexico and a University Innovation Alliance Fellow. Her work focuses on advancing student success through curriculum innovation, faculty leadership, and
institution-wide collaboration, with particular attention to implementation and scale.


At UNM, Dr. Lippitt leads Elevate Gen Ed, a faculty-driven Academic Affairs initiative that
strengthens General Education through skill-based learning modules, digital badges,
experiential learning, and high-impact educational practices aligned with academic and
workforce-related competencies. This work emphasizes collaboration across colleges, evidence-
informed design, assessment, and scalable strategies to promote equitable student outcomes.


Trained as a geographer, Dr. Lippitt brings a systems- and place-based perspective to institutional change, connecting applied data analysis, curriculum design, and policy-informed decision making. She holds a B.A. in Geography, an M.S. in Geographic Information Science, and a Ph.D. in Geography.
