Pamela Cheek

Associate Provost for Student Success

Pamela L. Cheek serves as Associate Provost for Student Success at the University of New Mexico and is a Professor of French and Comparative Literature. In her role at one of the most diverse public research I’s in the nation, she focuses on initiatives that advance excellence and equity and provide early academic opportunity and holistic support for students from groups traditionally under-represented in higher education. Her work as a scholar on questions of race, gender, and sexuality in eighteenth-century culture was recognized with the Laura Shannon Prize in 2022. She graduated with honors from Harvard University and, as a Mellon Fellow, received her doctorate in Comparative Literature from Stanford University.
